ASTI Students

ASTI students enjoy a great deal of fun, in addition to the unique learning experience they have. They work hard but enjoy themselves in a tight-knit community as well. They share special events, participate with other schools in recreational activities like sports and dances, and have a very strong sense of companionship with their fellow students. The school is small, so the students are very close. There are no strangers here, only friends, tutors and co-workers.

ASTI also features magnificent diversity in addition to the small, close-knit relationships. At ASTI, everyone is welcome, and well represented in a rich, multi-cultural, diverse environment. ASTI has native and fluent multi-lingual speakers of Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, Italian, Hindi, Toishan, Shanghainese, Vietnamese, Japanese, Arabic, Korean, Tagalog, Farsi, German, Russian, Danish, Tahgrinya, Fukien, and more. Many students and teachers are at least fully bilingual, and many have families of mixed heritage.

FIELD TRIPS

ASTI students have enjoyed enriching field trips to numerous locations in the greater Bay Area, including the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, California Environmental Protection Agency Berkeley lab, San Francisco Zoo, productions such as The Color Purple, Mother Courage and The Lion King, the Tech Museum, Buena Vista Gardens, Marin headlands coastal beach habitat, and others.

SPORTS

Sports are available at local Encinal HS in Alameda. Students have played full seasons of basketball, soccer, football, swimming, and volleyball. ASTI students also have full use of college facilities during PE class.
