CLASSES
Beginning in the Freshman year, students are rigorously challenged
with coursework in 4 core academic areas.
• Language Arts - these courses include rigorous, grade-level English lessons. Additionally, students take Public Speaking and two full years of Writing Composition to prepare them for demanding college work. Formal writing, in particular, is a very critical skill for success in college, so students begin practicing essay composition immediately upon entering the program.
• Mathematics - ASTI provides courses from algebra through pre-calculus, tutoring students closely in a small classroom environment. Students get the personalized attention they need to reach higher, complex math understanding. ASTI students take college mathematics as well.
• Sciences - ASTI students get an extremely complete science education, incorporating astronomy, biology, physics, chemistry, and anatomy & physiology. Students take three of these courses before they begin 11th grade, making them far more prepared for college science than young adults in traditional high schools.
• Social Science - classes involve mapping,
political, cultural, and physical sciences. Before
junior year of high school, students have a comprehensive
and thorough understanding of social science. By 11th grade,
students are taking college economics and American government.

FIRST COLLEGE COURSEPhysical Education - is a course offered by College of Alameda, and taught by professor Chris Dadd (MS in Human Physiology). Students earn college credit immediately this way as well.
