Transferring from other districts
Students who live outside of Alameda are also encouraged to apply to Alameda Science and Technology Institute. Any parent, guardian, or student interested can transfer going through these steps:
1) Apply to ASTI
2) Go to the home school district's central office and request an interdistrict transfer
3) If this does not go through, parents/guardians/students should remind their district officials that ASTI is an Early College High School, which is a program not offered by their district.
4) If denied, submit an appeal (download here) to the Alameda County Office of Education for determination.
What priorities will be considered in the ASTI selection process?
• First priority goes to high school age students living in the Peralta Community College District attendance areas—Alameda, Oakland, Berkeley, Emeryville, Albany and Piedmont.
• If more qualified students apply than the school can accommodate, the selection process is done by lottery. Maximum space is for 50 9th graders and 50 10th graders.
• The selection process aims to create a student population representing ethnic and economic profiles of Alameda Unified School District and College of Alameda students.
